Committed to the latest technology in telecommunications, Kalona Cooperative Telephone Company is continuing its Fiber To The Home (FTTH) project . The goal of this project is the comprehensive transformation of the entire Kalona telephone exchange from copper lines to fiber optic cable.
In 2010, KCTC ran fiber optic cables to the majority of the homes and businesses in the city of Kalona. By connecting customers to the fiber optic network, Kalona Telephone is able to provide faster Internet speeds and multiple HDTV streams.
The fiber to the home project for rural Kalona customers began in the late spring of 2011, and is projected to be completed in 2014.
